Onyx Dental provides a comprehensive range of treatments and Facial Aesthetic treatments, to suit all needs.
Initial Full Examination
In order to truly understand what you are looking to get from us, and understand your concerns, we will have a chat before the clinical examination. This gives us a chance to let you know how we can help you, and fill in some important forms.
Next, it’s on to the clinical examination, with one of our friendly dentists.
Your dentist will thoroughly and gently check the muscles that move your jaw, your lips, your cheeks, all other soft tissues, your gums, and finally your teeth. If there is time, and not too much that we would recommend doing, then we will show you, using our mouth camera, anything that he feels needs attention.
If there is a bit more work to be done, then, we will take a few pictures, and call you back to discuss all the issues, in a more relaxed surrounding.
We can discuss prices, and payment options openly, to help you achieve the dental care you desire.
Recall Examinations
Once we have got to know you, the next examinations shouldn’t be that labour intensive! We still do a thorough check of the whole mouth, and surrounding structures, update our records, and make sure that everything is as it should be.
Hygienist Scale and Polish
As yet, we do not have a dedicated hygienist, so your dentist will also take care of any professional cleaning you may desire. We aim to have a hygienist in the next six months.
It is important that you do not rely on us to keep gum disease away. We can give you all the information you need to maintain healthy gums at home, and then when you come to see us, we can let you know how you’re doing, and clean up any calculus that may have built up over time.
Fillings
For smaller holes in teeth, we normally recommend fillings, and these days, only white will do!
All fillings are carried out to the highest level, and using the latest techniques, to ensure you have the best quality filling.
If you request, we can even change your old black fillings to white ones, restoring the appearance, as well as the function.
Inlays and Onlays
For larger holes in teeth, we may recommend an inlay or onlay. These need to be made away from the surgery, and provide much more strength than a filling, and they can be made in white too!
Crowns
Sometimes, when the tooth is very broken down, only a crown will provide the strength needed. Like the inlays, these are made away from the surgery, and there are several types available, most are white, but sometimes, we may recommend a gold one, based on your particular needs.
Bridges
When you have missing teeth, a bridge may be one suitable option. There are several types available, and your dentist will recommend the best option for you.
Bridges can help improve your smile, reduce stress on other teeth, and minimise the risk of teeth tilting due to lack of support.
Root Fillings
Root fillings are required when the nerve of the tooth is damaged, or infected.
In the past, these teeth may have been removed, but with the advanced rotary root canal treatment system, these teeth can be saved, with minimum chair time, usually only an hour for a front tooth.
Dentures
For many missing teeth, a denture may be the best option. We can advise you on the different types of dentures available, and what may be the best for you.
Implants
We don’t yet offer implants, but we can recommend them in certain cases, and find a reputable clinician to carry out the work if you decide to go with it.
Extractions
Occasionally, if a tooth is beyond repair, we will show you why we can’t treat it, and may recommend having it removed.
This procedure is usually very quick, and only undertaken if there are clear benefits to you.
Tooth Whitening / Bleaching
This is a very quick, and effective way for brightening and taking years off your smile. There are a few ways in which it can be done, and they can all be explained to you.
As with all cosmetic treatment, there are always a few risks involved, and it is crucial that you are made aware of them all before treatment. With tooth whitening, there are very few, and these are normally very short term.
Veneers
Veneers can provide a new facing for chipped, discoloured, or asymmetrical teeth, looking natural and healthy.
A small shaving is taken off the front of the tooth, and porcelain facing is made and attached on using a strong bonding agent.
Veneers on several teeth can make a huge difference to a smile. If you are considering having cosmetic treatment, you should first have a full smile consultation, so that we can provide the best treatment for you.

Botox
Fast becoming the most popular non surgical anti ageing treatment, Botox is safe and predictable, and over in just a few minutes, leaving wrinkles softened, and maintaining a natural appearance.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are gently injected under the skin, to push up deeper wrinkles and folds, with the results lasting up to 9 months
Facial Peels
Skin can be rejuvenated by removing the superficial layers of skin, in a controlled fashion, to reveal fresh radiant skin underneath. There are several medical peels available, and we will be able to advise you on the most suitable for your skin type.
